The job of a front desk medical receptionist involves basic clerical tasks such as greeting patients, visitors, salespeople, etc., answering phones, and scheduling appointments. They are expected to perform their daily tasks in a professional and timely manner. The working environment of most medical receptionists is in a physician’s office, dental clinic, hospital or any other medical establishment. Medical receptionist may also be tasked with administrative and clinical duties. Working in the front desk means they are the persons who are responsible in welcoming and greeting all patients. When answering the phone, proper telephone etiquette must be observed at all times. They are also responsible for keeping the reception area clean, organized, and running smoothly. Medical receptionists are also responsible for registering new patients and keeping patient information, personal and financial, updated. When responding to inquiries made by patients, prospective clients, and visitors, the receptionist should do so in a courteous and respectful manner.
