When Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey voted for bills to have online poker legalized in the respective states, people wondered if there was going to be an avalanche effect in legalizing online poker. Many conservatives against the traditional game of poker felt otherwise as they supported non-legalization of the online version of the game. But with ninety six percent of states allowing some form of online gambling, it was only natural that the expectations went against those of these conservatives barring those in the states of Hawai and Utah. While the New Jersey senator Mr. Ray Lesniak convinced people that what New Jersey achieved was going to take longer in other states, he still assured conservatives that they were “fighting a losing battle”. But there are major players who are taking the initiative in spite of their love for the game.
Meet Sheldon Adelson, the most important shareholder of Las Vegas sands. The tycoon made most of his money from people who travelled to Las Vegas to gamble. As a result, he is against the fact that they can now play the game and win big sitting at home. According to sources, Adelson has created an Astroturf where he has formed a coalition to stop online gambling! So, while Lesniak is a supporter of online gambling, Adelson is against it. And both are right in their respective places.
So, now when you have such string advocates of real time gambling trying to prevent online poke, do you think a positive turnout of events will happen for supporters of online gambling? Who will win and why do you think he will? Do let us know in your comments to my post.
