The Arkansas Retailer Wal-Mart is making plans to start selling a new single-serve beverage maker called the Esio Beverage system. The inexpensive drinks will rival the price that Green Mountain, the dominant player in the U.S. single-serve coffee market, can charge for its K-Cups, which are the portions of coffee used in its brewers.
Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer, has plans to begin selling the Esio System, which can make single servings of hot and cold drinks including coffee, tea, energy drinks and vitamin waters. This will be big competition for Keurig and Kraft Foods.
Wal-Mart, being unhappy with the higher prices that is being charged by Keurig and Kraft Foods has decided to offer the single serve system and its products at a lower price, thereby inviting most people who could not initially afford the system, to now enjoy their single serve of coffee, tea, energy drinks or vitamin waters. This will probably cause the competitors to lower their prices to remain in the running.
Wal-Mart intent is to give its consumers the same options to own this type of system in their home as others who own the higher priced Keurig and Kraft Foods single serve beverage system.
